future & Hypothesis
Explanation
Drones have the possibility to provide many hours of fun to a person, observe and report to officers upholding the law, and protect military personnel when they are out in the battlefield. However, they can also shatter many laws concerning the privacy of American citizens, violate basic human rights laws worldwide, be turned against the population by the government itself, and even be turned against the country by enemy agents and/or insurgents.

Hypothesis
In the future, as seen in many films and literature, drone technology could possibly extend past remote-controlled drones in drones that can think for themselves and act independently of human interaction and observation. Possibilities range from drone ground vehicles and miniature stealth drones to a swarm or entire lineage of drone types that can function as a literal swarm. Should this happen, all it takes is a single faulty wire or lightning strike for the drones to malfunction and possibly go on a spree of destruction. Or even worse, if insurgents, revolutionaries, or an enemy country were to get ahold of the controls for the drone “fleet” and turn them on us.
